Teaching statement

As a young person, I was very lucky to study with teachers who prioritized nurturing a love of music, and who made me feel seen and cared for as a whole person. I strive to create the same loving environment for my students, and do everything I can to make sure they feel safe and valued. 

I have a strong technical background and knowledge of the solo and orchestral repertoire. I have worked with students of every age and skill level: I will cater my teaching style to your goals and interests, and the type of learner that you are.

Finding a proper fit between student and teacher is important: to make this process easier, I offer a free trial lesson to all first-time students. I also value accessibility to all. While teaching is a primary source of my income, I don’t want the cost to stand in the way of students who would otherwise be a good fit. In support of this, I offer a sliding scale to those who need it.
