Marguerite Cox is a double bassist from Northeast Ohio.

She is currently a fellow in Carnegie Hall's renowned Ensemble Connect program, located in New York City.

In 2023, Marguerite earned her Master's degree in Double Bass Performance from the Curtis Institute of Music. Prior to that, she graduated from Rice University's Shepherd School of Music, where she studied under Paul Ellison and worked closely with Tim Pitts.

Maggie enjoys exploring all kinds of music.

Maggie regularly appears with A Far Cry Chamber Orchestra, Palaver Strings, New Canaan Chamber Music, and Jupiter Symphony Chamber Players.

In 2024, Maggie performed and recorded extensively with experimental folk band Big Bend. As a member of Big Bend, Maggie performed at venues including Le Poisson Rouge (NYC), Constellation (Chicago), and The 5 Spot (Nashville), and recorded at Spillway Sound and Electrical Audio (Chicago).

While at Rice, Marguerite earned a minor in Poverty, Justice, and Human Capabilities. As a student in the PJHC program, Marguerite organized a series of benefit concerts called Artists for Action, bringing together musicians of all genres and backgrounds for an evening of music and community engagement. 

Marguerite has been a fellowship recipient at the Aspen Music Festival and School, Spoleto Festival USA, Tanglewood Music Center, Music Academy of the West, and Sarasota Music Festival. Marguerite has also spent summers at the Domaine Forget International Academy and the Wabass Institute. In August 2022, Marguerite completed a residency at Avaloch Farms recording Ted Babcock’s Dialogues Quintet.

Maggie’s teachers and mentors have included Edgar Meyer, Paul Ellison, Tim Pitts, Leigh Mesh, Tracy Rowell, Henry Peyrebrune, and Bryan Thomas.
